How do i get my labtop to accept the lexmark x85 software for my printer?

ok i got a HP pavillion dv6000 labtop and i just got a lexmark x85 printer,copier,fax machine from a hand me down store but it is in very good condition and the copier works but no ink ..but my question is when i hook up the the printer to my labtop it says it needs software driver download ..so i looked it up and its hard to find my model number but i did and downloaded and installed but nothing it says to try unplugging wires and restarting computer and if that dont help uninstall and install again but the funny thing is i cant seem to find the installments ..i know where to go to unistall but their invisible!!!!! so now after 3 hrs of trying to do this ..and nothing ..plus it says to put cd in to help find software but i dnt have cd as it is a hand me down store..but their is a compatibility software i can download but now im lost and need help!!! please lol my op system is windows vista xp.home premium .. ive dun it so many times .i go to lexmark.com and go to software like they say and nothing ...help thank you
