Intro paragraph of So Far from Bamboo Grove..constructive criticsism pleezzz?

So Far From the Bamboo Grove is an autobiography about the life of a young Japanese girl living in Korea, Yoko Kawashima Watkins, which shows the difficulties of surviving through a war. When she was eleven years old she had to flee Korea with her mother and older sister. The Koreans hated the Japanese because they had occupied their land for so many years. It takes place in the 1940’s during, before, and after World War II in Korea and Japan. Yoko along with her sister and mother went through many terrifying and dangerous experiences such as , bombings and mockery. Hideyo, Yoko’s brother, went through similar experiences, but alone. Although Ko went through all of the same hardships throughout the devastating war as Yoko, it was harder and more frustrating for Ko because she knew she could not complain. Ko had to be strong and witty during these dangers of World war II as well as set an example for her younger sister, Yoko, because the Koreans did not show any mercy.
