Psychologically, why can't most women go without hiding themselves behind several layers of disguise?

It is not just in women but in men as well. Women do take the majority statistics in this given question. Women are pressured more so by media influences (you are only beautiful if you are thin like twiggy, you must wear make up, you must wear this) In contempouary society, media takes the stage of the world, therefore women feel as if they are being degraded, they are not good enough if they do not have the latestfashionss or if they do not look a certain way.
