Will this work with rough stones?

I want to use a small ultrasonic cleaner to polish rough gemstones with a water based grit. I don't like the tumblers cause they take a long time and I am unable to find a vibrator polisher I can afford that uses wet grit. do you think my idea would work? what do you think would happen?
